I happened to have ordered a book on a somewhat unrelated topic titled something like, 'Social Networking 1 hour a day' that was 4 star rated by 1/5 as many people - this 2nd book was chalk full of examples, case studies (stripped down summaries - not academic meanderings) with ball-park numbers, and real 'how-to' action plans. The book is reasonably assembled, but really, it seems more or less a motivational work. Why the internet is great., Moore's Law., little guys have a chance in the 'flat world' (of the internet)., etc. This text is, in my judgement, solidly average within the field. The Internet Riches paperback was pretty pale by comparison, and seemed to roll back to reiterate why these kinds of businesses are timely and a good bet. Several reviewers noted that the text provided abundant material on how to execute and 'finally put it together'. I was miffed by the strength of the high mark reviews (4 + stars; 100 + entries). I suppose my expectations may have been high after reading through some of the glowing reviews.
Those examples alone give you ideas and the reassurance that you can take something you enjoy and turn it into a business. Also, for those who get this, I also suggest going to his website, [.]., and you will find very useful information there. This book is top notch if you are looking for an easy to read, easy to follow guide on starting your internet business. I highly recommend Internet Riches and I am very excited to get into this newer book E Riches 2.0. You can sign up for the newsletter and tips. I like that he starts out with the basics, and not only that Scott Fox gives timely examples of people who have used basic tools to make a lot of money. It was great to going to the websites of those he had interviewed as the basis of the book.
Scott Fox's book is great for those who are just getting introduced to the world of internet businesses and for those who are experienced who want to pick up a few things. He gives you examples of other businesses that will help you figure out what kind you want to start and you can even take elements from different businesses as well to form your own idea. I am about to have my website built with help from Internet Riches. Now is the BEST time to start your business because of the growing opportunities online and the cheap costs to get started as opposed to starting a business that will cost you thousands of dollars to get started.
But I think one can be mildly successful if one puts the principles into practice and will have an advantage over other people who do not know how to market their ideas online. This book makes you believe. This is NOT a quick get rich scheme, your success depends a lot on the time you put in and your ideas.
I was looking on the internet for a way to be my own internet entreprenuer and I stumbled up on this book. I did not even get my college degree in business.
Thank you Scott Fox. It is clear and organized and will HELP you stimulate ideas for starting your own business ideas and will also give you pointers and tips to give you extra help.
I have NEVER taken a marketing course or a course on being an entrepreneur.
Thanks ot this book I am making some major changes to what I have planned and canceled the purchase of a web-site I had planned to buy.It has given me a whole new perspective on e-business, I did not realize how much things have changed and how simple it is to get a web-site up and running.Still, you need ot have a game plan and I hope to be ready soon.A great book. This is a very good book that has given me lots of ideas on how to proceeed with the web-site I ma planning.
If you need ideas on starting new business online (and I am not sure why you cannot get this info online if you can critically study websites that sell different products) then maybe this book is for you. I am sure there is more to it because right now I am still stuck with a website, a web host and no online store.I am not sure if people would buy this book to get only ideas about what business they can start and not care about how to take it from start to finish. And then in few chapters he shows you how to build your website in a simple set up using templates provided by the web host providers etc. So far, so good.
From a certain perspective, for me it read like those small handbooks on how to find your inner happiness or manage time effectively or some such sort. I can sense the reason behind the popularity of this book. Anyways, if you are searching for a book to set up a store online etc, look somewhere else. What goes towards setting up a receiving purchase orders, accounting for it, and shipping it. I believe this book will only help you to generate some ideas about what type of business you can set up online. What I was looking for was how to get to the level where one can start using the nuts and bolts of creating an ebusiness.
If I need to make a website that needs to sell my products, how does one set up an online store to sell them. It gives you ideas that sound simple and are perhaps easy to implement but it does not indicate in any sense how to achieve them. Nothing wrong about it, but it does not solve any particular problems. This book is a feel good book. I suppose I am disappointed at that end. But in my case, I already had few to start with. If you are like me who can "observe" success stories online and need help to only start it, this book may not serve you. This book is only basic in that regards.
A small example is to say I need to set up a website to sell my products. If I need to set up a website to have a forum for people of certain tastes/hobbies etc. To be honest, I was bit mislead by the title of money making secrets and I assumed there was more to the fact than just putting up a website mentioned in this book. The author gives reasonable number of success stories and how they fitted with the need of a select group of people that were not served in the society. It tries to motivate you to start your own internet based business. There are no instructions for that. But, the practical problem I faced is how does one proceed from here. to come together, how does one do that.
